Information!
We are the Christian Union at Sunderland University! What exactly is a Christian Union?
Imagine a radical witnessing Christian community at the heart of every University and College. Imagine vibrant mission teams of students committed to reaching other studets with the good news of Jesus. Imagine a generation being equipped for effective leadership in church, community, and the workplace. Imagine Christian Unions.
Imagine an idea so good that if it wasn't happening you would want to invent it!
Live for Jesus ... Speak for Jesus
The Christian Unions are simply groups of people who want to tell people about Jesus while they're at uni. We meet together to encourage one another, to worship God and to get equipped, so that we can reach out to our campus. We want every student in Great Britain to have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Christian Unions unite around the essential truths of the gospel, bringing together students from all kinds of churches, who share a passion to make Christ known.
CU members belong to local churches, and local churches support the CUs with prayer, ecouragement and by building up individuals.
Led by students and supported by Christian Union Staff Workers (Matt Oliver) and Relay Workers (Uncle James), we're given loads of training, resources and advice to help us for the task.
And Christian Unions aren't just a British thing - we're part of a global family of Christian Unions (IFES) in 152 countries, who are living for Jesus and speaking for Jesus, so that more students can hear the good news.
You can be part of this amazing adventure too, if you give what you've got to your Christian Union.
We meet every Friday night at 6pm in the St. Mary's Building (that's the one beside the Gateway) and every Wednesday night for Bible Study at 7pm in (to be confirmed)...
